Marinette Dupain-Cheng, a socially concerned teenager, went to school trying to escape. Despite the urge to make friends with another student, Alya Césaire, Marinette found herself trying desperately to avoid the anger of the rich girl Chloé Bourgeois. While trying to escape, Marinette runs into model Adrien Agreste and creates an impression on him. Adrien was devastated by the death of his mother, Emilie. Similarly, due to her death, Adrien's father Gabriel uses the Miraculous Butterfly, a magical jewel, to turn into a Hawk Moth, with the goal of finding the Miraculous he needs to aspire and bring his wife back to life. Hawk Moth's appearance was spotted by Wang Fu, the guardian of Miracle Box, who chose to release the Ladybug and the Miraculous Cat to get them to run away. He is rescued from an incoming bus, with Marinette still running away from Chloé while he realizes she deserves Miraculous. Duck Marinette enters a corner shop on a main street and is discovered by Tikki, the Kwami of Creation, while her Paul, Plagg, the Kwami of Destruction, travels to Adrien.
